Neighborhood, 2020 Rose 'Basilisk'
Basilisk is a beautiful rose made from a combination of Pinot Noir grown on Pali Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills and Viognier sourced from Camp 4 Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley. The Pinot Noir was harvested whole cluster and foot stomped before being pressed to extract delicate colors and flavors from the grapes. The Viognier was hard-pressed to pull more flavor from its skins! Each variety was fermented and aged separately. Native fermentation with no additives in the winemaking. This blend was aged in 100% neutral French oak and is unfined and unfiltered. Together the grapes create a beautifully aromatic and easy drinking rose with great acid. Iridescent pink with sparkling haze gives way to spicy cranberry, guava, Calamansi, crushed sea shell and salted plum. It’s delicately fragrant with citrus blossom, candied nectarine and mineral.
