2019 Blood Moon
Blood Moon is a red wine blend of Syrah & Sangiovese. The Syrah comes from Alamo Creek Vineyard northeast of Santa Maria and the Sangiovese from Giff's Vineyard in the Los Olivos District. Both vineyards are organically farmed. The wine was crafted using a fermentation technique called carbonic maceration, where whole grapes are placed in an anaerobic environment. Here natural, environmental, yeast breaks down the sugars in each individual grape berry converting the juice into wine. The grapes are pressed without ever being crushed, resulting in a vibrant red-colored light body red wine. This is a natural wine -- it was organically farmed, used only native (non-commercial) yeast, SO2 was avoided throughout the wines elevage, and it is unfined and unfiltered.
