Dornfelder is a red variety native to Germany and planted in very small quantities in California. The grapes for this wine are grown at Chapel Vineyards (formerly Huber Vineyard), located in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA and planted by Norman and Traudal Huber in the late 1980s. Great pride is taken in the cultivation of this uncommon variety on their vineyard, which produces premium fruit each year. Made in limited quantities, the grapes are hand-harvested, fermented in small lots and barrel-aged for 18 months prior to bottling in June 2019.
