2016 Rio Vista Vineyard Pinot Noir
Rio Vista Vineyard is located at the south-eastern corner of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. in 2000, Proprietors Graner and Bobbie Thorne planted a 65-acre vineyard on their 60-year-old, family-run cattle ranch, which they continue to operate today. The sedimentary soil, which is comprised of limestone and a marine layer of sandy loam, is perfectly suited for Pinot Noir, the only varietal grown on the property. This wine is fermented in small, open-top tanks, punched down by hand up to three times daily, then barrel-aged in 50% new French oak for 18 months. Bottled in May 2018.
