This wine is comprised exclusively from Semillon grown on Vogelzang Vineyard in Happy Canyon of the Santa Ynez Valley. These naturally low-yielding vines produce an intense wine which we complimented with fermenting and aging in 1 year old French oak barrels.

Bien Nacido sits on the eastern most opening of the surrounding mountain range just above Santa Maria, which allows a steady wash of cool ocean air over the coastal flood plains and through the vineyard. The vineyard was planted in 1973, which makes it one of the original vineyard plantings in the Santa Maria Valley. The grapes are farmed using bio-dynamic farming practices, alongside many companion crops, orchards and various farm animals. 50% new French oak for 18 months.

To make this wine we sourced sustainably farmed Petite Sirah from Texas Road Vineyard in the San Marcos District of Paso Robles. Very low yields in the vineyard create wonderful concentration and color. The grapes were harvested on October 2nd, 2018 at an average 24.6 brix with a pH of 3.84. This wine was fermented in small open-top tanks and punched down by hand three times daily during its initial fermentation. It was then barrel-aged for eighteen months, during which it underwent malolactic fermentation, in 25% new French & American oak barrels.

To make this wine we sourced sustainably farmed Cabernet Sauvignon from Old Oak Vineyard in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles. The vineyard is named after a spectacular live oak tree, that is estimated to be more than 500 years old. The grapes were harvested on October 1st, 2018 at 24.9 brix with a pH of 3.68. This wine was fermented in small open-top tanks and punched down by hand three times daily during its initial fermentation. It was then barrel-aged for 18 months, during which it underwent malolactic fermentation, in 30% new French oak barrels, balanced with neutral French oak barrels prior to bottling.

To make this wine we sourced organically farmed Zinfandel from Charlie's Vineyard in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles. Charlie's Vineyard is very small (3 acres) and is family owned for over 30 years. The grapes were harvested on November 2nd, 2018 at 25.5 brix with a pH of 3.86. This wine was fermented in small open-top tanks and punched down by hand three times daily during its initial fermentation. It was then barrel-aged for 18 months, during which it underwent malolactic fermentation, in 100% neutral oak barrels.

We picked the Pinot Noir Grapes for this wine on the chilly, early morning of September 21st, 2019, from Pali Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. The clusters were sorted and went through a spontaneous fermentation facilitated by only native yeast alive in the air and on the grapes. The grapes were punched down by hand multiple times daily during fermentation. No sulfur was added throughout the wine's elevage. Less than 20PPM was added prior to bottling. This Pinot Noir was barrel-aged for 6 months in entirely neutral French oak barrels.

The grapes were punched down by hand multiple times daily during fermentation. No sulfur was added throughout the wine's elevage. Less than 20PPM was added prior to bottling. This Chardonnay was barrel-aged for 6 months in entirely neutral French oak barrels.
