True to its appellation, the nose is dominated with black fruits, forest floor and shitake mushroom. Concentrated ripe black berries explode on the palate, moving into nuances of fresh raspberies and boysenberry with nuances of lavender and rose petal.
The 2011 "Summit" has complex aromas of fresh crushed raspberries, just ripened blackberries and nuances of white pepper, grilled meat, mineral and floral characters. Waves of layering with intense soft tannins that flesh over the palate carrying focused cherry, deep dark chocolate, limestone and minerality.
The 2011 vintage in the Willamette Valley was very similar to 2010, which was a typical one for Oregon. The long, cool growing season produced wines of great structure and balance as opposed to 2008 and 2009, where the wines were dominated by up front, ripe, almost candied fruit. The 2011 "Alphabets" is deep garnet in color, with a nose of dried cherry, cranberry, cinnamon and a touch of smoke. The palate shows Bing cherry, red raspberry and white pepper, with bright acidity, firm tannins and excellent structure.
The bouquet wows you with a crescendo of fresh raspberries, with nuances of red currant and iron- an immense palate of wild berries, red licorice, and white pepper. This is a concentrated yet elegant and layered wine.
A big impressive Chardonnay with toasty oak, bread dough, lemon curd and lime zest. Rich with lively acid and great weight, mineral laden and hints of litchi and pear on it long finish.
A brooding Pinot Noir with ripe cherry and blackberry, with an underpinning of raw steak and blood orange. A big rich mouthfeel initiates blackberry, toasty oak and forest floor.
A forward nose of condied raspberry, cherry, cedar and sandalwood. It attacks the palate with full throttled pure, juicy cherry and raspberry, accompanied by black pepper and soft tannins.
