Pale pink color with aromas of soft red fruits, fresh strawberries, thyme, basil, rhubarb, candied fruit, fresh cream and vanilla bean. A tight, focused acidity on the palate with tart green apples, cherries and undertones of Thai basil, white pepper, strawberries and a hint of dank earth. Quenching acidity on the finish leaves the palate pleasantly cleansed.
“A beautifully complete and layered effort is the 2014 Pinot Noir Rancho la Vina, which like the Radian Vineyard release comes from the 777 and Pommard clones and was aged in 50% new oak. Giving up lots of kirsch, dried herbs, earth and spice, this medium-bodied, seamless and elegant 2014 has outstanding purity of fruit and is a joy to drink. It should keep nicely through 2022.”
Black plum flesh, earth, blackberry, black cherry, anise, black currant, green olive. Sweet intense brooding black fruit, sea salt, round tannins, long finish, rich texture framed with light matchstick toast. Reminiscent of Nuit St George.
“The 2014 Chardonnay Huber Vineyard has a classy bouquet of buttered orchard fruits, charcoal, toasted bread and spice. Barrel-fermented (malolactic fermentation was mostly blocked) and aged 15 months in 30% new French oak, drink this rounded, layered, yet still fresh and lively white over the coming 4-5 years.”
Deep maroon in color. Hints of cherry cola, dusty earth, blueberry, tar and perfume on the nose. It’s structured on the palate and fruit forward with red fruits and blackberries and hints of bramble. Juicy acidity on the palate from start to finish.
2013 Huber Chardonnay is our first release from this classic Sta. Rita Hills vineyard. Bright, golden straw color. The nose is overflowing with hints of butterscotch and salty ocean air. The palate explodes with lemons and pears highlighted with a dancing minerality on the tongue. Finishes with flavors of key lime pie. It was barrel fermented using minimal amounts of new French Oak.
