Pali Wine Co. Pinot Noir
Fiddlestix Vineyard was planted in 1998 by Kathy Joseph, "Head Fiddle," at Fiddlehead Cellars. Located in the heart of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA in Santa Barbara County, Fiddlestix Vineyard is planted to 80 acres of Pinot Noir, which benefits from morning fog, mild sunny days, and cool ocean breezes. This wine is a combination of Dijon clones 667, 777, 115, and Pommard 4. It was fermented in small lots, barrel-aged in 50 percent new French oak for 15 months, racked once, and bottled in April 2017.
Brilliant deep red/garnet color. Nose shows fresh cherries, strawberry, baking spices, toasted oak and hints of bacon fat. The palate gives up dark red fruit flavors, earthy mushrooms and loads of spices finishing with warm notes of vanilla and coffee. Silky texture on a medium-weighted palate with perfumed flavors that permeate up to the nose. Lively, visceral and brooding.
The nose offers up sweet red fruits such as fresh raspberries, cherries and baked plums, all mingling with notes of cola, cinnamon, black pepper, and toasted oak. On the palate, black cherries and baking spices swirl with mushrooms and clove. Rich and coating mouthfeel with round tannins and fresh acidity on the finish.
Vibrant, Ruby-red/Garnet Color. The nose offers aromas of dark cherries, briar, blackberry, toasted wood, coal, cinnamon, rosemary. Palate provides sweet red fruit with juicy acid and hints of mushroom and roasted meat.
Candied nose of sweet cherries, dark chocolate, cinnamon, ripe strawberries, maple syrup, boysenberries, toasted oak, dried thyme. Palate offers up bright red fruits, cherries and raspberries up front with earthy tones of wild mushrooms and black truffles. The mid palate swells with rich acid and flavors of baking spices (clove, mace, cardamom). Long, elegant finish with black licorice, more red fruit and hints of black tea. Ruby Red, Garnet in color, bright clarity – medium bodied.
Black plum flesh, earth, blackberry, black cherry, anise, black currant, green olive. Sweet intense brooding black fruit, sea salt, round tannins, long finish, rich texture framed with light matchstick toast. Reminiscent of Nuit St George.
“A beautifully complete and layered effort is the 2014 Pinot Noir Rancho la Vina, which like the Radian Vineyard release comes from the 777 and Pommard clones and was aged in 50% new oak. Giving up lots of kirsch, dried herbs, earth and spice, this medium-bodied, seamless and elegant 2014 has outstanding purity of fruit and is a joy to drink. It should keep nicely through 2022.”

Dark garnet in color, this wine showcases bright red fruits on the nose with hints of thyme, tea, and caramel. The tea flavors carry through to the palate along with notes of earth and iron that come together into a long, spicy finish.
Deep maroon in color. Hints of cherry cola, dusty earth, blueberry, tar and perfume on the nose. It’s structured on the palate and fruit forward with red fruits and blackberries and hints of bramble. Juicy acidity on the palate from start to finish.
