The grapes for this wine hail from Camp 4 Vineyard in the Santa Ynez Valley. Counoise is typically used as a blending grape in Rhone-style red wines, but we decided to showcase it on its own. This light-bodied wine is fermented in small lots, punched down by hand up to three times daily and aged in 100% neutral French oak barrels for 18 months. Bottled in April 2018.
Dornfelder is a red varietal native to Germany and planted in very small quantities in California. The grapes for this wine were grown on Huber Vineyard, located in Sta. Rita Hills and planted by Norman and Traudal Huber in the late 80's. The Huber's take great pride in the cultivation of this uncommon varietal on their vineyard, which produces premium fruit each year.
The fruit for this wine was grown at Camp 4 Vineyard, located in the eastern part of the Santa Ynez Valley. Owned by the Chumash Tribe, this vineyard grows primarily Rhone and select Bordeaux varietals. Carignane is a red varietal that originated in the Rhone Valley of France. This wine, made in very limited quantities, was barrel-fermented and barrel-aged using only neutral French oak barrels. Bottled in April 2018.

Dark fruits and notes of white pepper abound on the nose. Hints of roasted meats, dried herbs, and mushrooms in the background. On the palate are flavors of black pepper, blackberries, cloves, mushroom. Rich and mouth-filling, with a long finish that shows off a lot of earthiness, especially black tea and Asian spices.
