This Rosé, grown on our Pali Estate Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills appellation is made from 100% whole-cluster pressed, clone 777, Pinot Noir grapes. Planted in 2012, this 50-acre vineyard is located in Gypsy Canyon along the Hwy 246 Corridor and sits on a gentle, South-facing slope comprised mostly of sandy soils. These terroir characteristics, combined with cool temperatures, create excellent growing conditions for Pinot Noir. This wine is barrel-fermented and barrel-aged in 100% neutral French oak and bottled in April 2019.
"Huntington" is crafted from premium Pinot Noir grapes sourced from Riverbench Vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley AVA and from our Pali Estate Vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. This wine is carefully blended to express the unique flavors associated with Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir. True to the region, "Huntington's flavors consist of soft red fruits, particularly strawberries and raspberries and a variety of baking spices, clove, and cinnamon, along with such earthy components as black tea and mushrooms. This wine is fermented in small lots, barrel-aged in 20% new French oak for 15 months and then bottled in December 2018.
"Charm Acres" is crafted from premium Chardonnay grapes sourced from top vineyards in Sonoma County. This wine underwent minimal malo-lactic (ML) fermentation, resulting in a Chardonnay that is bright and lively on the palate. It was aged for 10 months using less than 25% new French oak, which adds a hint of richness to this incredibly balanced Chardonnay. Bottled in August 2018.
This is the first release of our "Estate Reserve" Pinot Noir crafted from the best barrels and the best blocks on our estate vineyard, located on the northwestern side of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA in Santa Barbara County. This year's reserve wine is made from clones 777, 23, and 2A, and only six barrels were selected to produce a total of 150 cases of this wine. It was harvested and fermented in small lots, barrel-aged for 18 months in 100% new French Oak, and then bottled in July 2018.
John Sebastiano Vineyard sits on the extreme northeastern edge of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA. Soils on this cool-climate vineyard are clay loam with an underlayer of limestone and vary in depth due to the slopes and swales. This Pinot Noir is made from a combination of clones 777 and Mt. Eden and is fermented in small lots, punched-down by hand up to three times daily, and then barrel-aged in 50% new French oak for 18 months. Bottled in April 2018.
Fiddlestix Vineyard was planted in 1998 by Kathy Joseph, "Head Fiddle" at Fiddlehead Cellars. Located in the heart of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA in Santa Barbara County, CA. Fiddlestix Vineyard is planted to 80 acres of Pinot Noir, which benefits from morning fog, mild sunny days and cool ocean breezes. This wine is a combination of Dijon clones 667, 777, 115 and Pommard 4. It was fermented in small lots, barrel-aged in 50 percent new French oak for 18 months, racked once and bottled in April 2018.
This Pinot Noir is produced from our Pali Estate Vineyard in Sta. Rita Hills. Planted in 2012, this 50-acre vineyard is located along the Hwy 246 corridor on Gypsy Canyon. It sits on a gentle, Southeast-facing slope comprised of mostly sandy soils. Our Estate Grown wine is a blend of clones 23, 2A, 777, 828 and Pommard and is fermented and aged separately in small lots. This wine was barrel-aged for 18 months in 50% new French oak and bottled in May 2018.
This is the inaugural wine crafted for our newly launched "Clonal Series" program, designed to showcase an individual Pinot Noir clone. Each year, we will select one of seven Pinot Noir clones from a single block on our 50-acre Estate vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills appellation in Santa Barbara County. This year's focus is Clone 2A from Block 5 on the west side of our vineyard, which is a warmer area protected from the prevailing westerly winds. Harvested in the 2016 season, this wine was barrel-fermented and aged for 18 months in neutral French oak barrels. Only four barrels of this wine were produced.
Rancho La Vina Vineyard is nestled along the western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills AVA, on California's central coast. The vineyard, which is a part of a family-owned and operated ranch, established in the 1860's, shares its home with cattle, walnuts and various fruit trees. The wines benefit from the wind coming off the Pacific Ocean, making it the ideal cool climate for growing premium Pinot Noir grapes. The wine is made exclusively from clone 115, barrel-aged for 18 months in 50% new French oak barrels and bottled in May 2018.
The Huber Estate was established in 1986, and the first Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines were planted in 1987, making this one of the oldest vineyards in Sta. Rita Hills. Proprietors Norm and Traudi Huber are passionate and meticulous caretakers of their vineyard and are directly involved in all aspect of vineyard management. Located in the heart of Sta. Rita Hills, the vineyard benefits from the appellation's cool climate, ocean breezes, coastal fog, and incredible soils. This Pinot Noir is fermented in small lots, barrel-aged for 18 months in 50% new French oak and was bottled in April 2018.
